Allopurinol Tablet is used to treat gout and certain types of kidney stones. It is also used to prevent increased uric acid levels in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy. Allopurinol Tablet is an antigout agent which is used to prevent gout attacks by reducing the uric acid production. Allopurinol works by reducing the amount of uric acid made by the body. Increased uric acid levels can cause gout and kidney problems.  It should be started at low doses and increase gradually. It is not recommended in the patients with the known history of allergy.

Uses :

• Hyperuricemia Secondary to Chemotherapy

Allopurinol Tablet is used in lower the uric acid levels in patients receiving cancer chemotherapy.

• Calcium Oxalate Calculi with Hyperuricosuria

• Gout

Side effects :

• Severe skin rash. Symptoms can include:

  • Red or purple-colored spots on your skin
  • Fever
  • Itchy hives (raised bumps on your skin)
  • Chills
  • Trouble breathing
  • Scaly skin
  • Swelling of your face or throat

• Liver injury. Symptoms can include:

  • Lack of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Tiredness
  • Jaundice (dark-colored urine or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes)
  • Right upper abdominal area pain or discomfort
